Going to try your method with the aluminium trays

Thanks for the suggestion to use aluminium trays when baking polymer clay.

I'm just starting out with this medium and have been feeling nervous about baking polymer clay in my home oven, not so much for my own safety but because I live in an apartment building where the ventilation system is connected. So I don't want to bother my neighbors with any strange, non-food-like smells coming from mine.
