Chain Mail - Useful Information To Avoid Frustration

Chain mail is an amazing jewelry technique. The mere fact that you can create stunning and complex jewelry simply by joining jump rings together without any soldering makes it a very popular technique among jewelry makers. It is also one of the few techniques that require very little tools and space. All you need are the jump rings and a pair of chain nose pliers, which make it a hobby you can easily bring with you everywhere. Before you throw yourself into the wonderful world of chain mail, there are some basics that may be of great help to you. It can be very frustrating if you begin a project only to find out that the rings doesn’t fit into each other, or that it becomes some loose wobbly thing that looks nothing like the pattern you wanted to make. read more

Make Polymer Clay Beads With An Illusion Of Watercolored Confetti

These polymer clay beads give the illusion of being painted with water colors, floating into each other like in a miniature painting. If you use stronger colors than in this tutorial, it will give the illusion of confetti gaily spread onto the beads. The technique is simple, but the value of the colors is important in order to get the edges of each of them to show. It looks like water colors with black and/or white inked lines surrounding them. If the colors are too light, the white edges will not show, and if they are too dark the dark edges will disappear. But enough talk, let’s begin. see the rest of the tutorial

Make Your Own Ear Wires

Are you in need for ear wires but don’t have any? Do not despair; you can easily make your own. All you need are some wire, a pair of pliers and a mandrel or pencil to bend the wire around. You are not restricted to one type, but can make them exactly as creative or simple as you please. One thing to keep in mind though is not to use thick wires. It has to go through the hole in your earlobe without stretching it. I have found that 22 gauges/0.8 mm is what fits best. Also use wire without nickel, as some people may have an allergic reaction to it. see the rest of the tutorial

Dangling Lizard Earrings In Silver And Crystal

Earrings, can you ever get enough of them? If you don’t like to wear things around your neck or wrist, but still want to wear jewelry, earrings are perfect. They come in a huge variation of sizes and shapes. They can be heavy and very dominant or small and discreet and everything in between. We do however usually have some preferences about what kind of jewelry we like to hang in our ears. I love large and dangling ones, some only wear precious metals and others want small but heavily embellished ones.

Make A Beautiful Butterfly Cane From Basic Canes

Making a butterfly cane may look difficult, but it isn’t. All you need is to make some basic canes and then put it all together. They do not have to be authentic, like a real butterfly wing. You can mix and match colors as you please. I find that the greatest challenge is to get the right hues so that the cells don’t disappear because they are too much alike. However, the colors are separated by black veins, so even that is not such a big problem. see the rest of the tutorial

Make A Full Persian 6-1 Pendant With Lovely Aqua Jasper Pebbles

Full Persian 6-1 is a beautiful chain mail weave, but has nothing to do with Persia at all. There are no records in history that links the weave to anywhere near Persia either. Also it was never used for armor like several of the other weaves, but is probably a modern created weave. Regardless of that, it is a lovely weave and it is not too difficult to make once you come buy the first link, which can be a challenge. It works best with larger rings, as it is a very dense chain. The chain forms from two and two rings stacked into a rope like chain.
