Dentures?

by Charles Struble
(Lincoln, Ne.)

I apologize if this is a silly question but would it be safe to make some Halloween false teeth, complete with fangs? I wear real dentures and can see real potential for amusing our grandkids if I can safely do this. Thank you for any response.

Fangs
by: Anonymous

Thanks Anne.
My plan is to make them for myself, possibly using molding technique and put some really cool fangs on them to surprise the grandkids. I just don't want to surprise them with, Oh look: grandpa has cool fangs but now he's dead... If I get them done, I will put some pics up. Thanks again.

Vampire fangs
by: Anne Cecilie

Hi Charles,
Polymer clay is not toxic unless it is burned. As long as your grandchildren don?t swallow the clay, I think it should be safe to make vampire fangs.

Polymer clay is very porous though, so I wouldn?t recommend that they use the dentures more than once or twice.

You can read more about polymer clay and safety at this page: http://www.jewelry-and-polymerclay-tutorial-heaven.com/Phthalates.html

It would be fun to see how they turn out, so if you feel like it, post a photo or two.
I wish you good luck and all the best!

Anne Cecilie
